2022 Levan Town Grand Marshal Jessie Ann Wood     

Jessie Ann was born on August 13, 1936, in Scipio Utah to Wesley and Zella martin.  She was the seventh of eight Children, two brothers and five sisters.  She was named after her grandpa Jessie Martin.

Jessie attended kindergarten through eighth grade in Scipio and then night - 12th grade in Fillmore.  As a kid her nightly chore was to gather coal and chips for the stove.  She took a heated brick wrapped in a blanket to bed to stay warm.  She bathed in a #3 wash tub and the bathroom was located outside.

After graduation in 1954 she moved to Salt Lake to live with her sister Opal.  While living in Salt Lake she worked at the First Security Bank and tried out for Miss Utah.  She made it to the top ten by modeling an evening gown and answering a question  She lucked out.  She did not have to model a swimsuit or have a talent.

Later that year she met Rulon Wood while dragging main.  They were maried in the Salt Lake Tample on August 19, 1955.  They made their home in Levan where they raised their three children Clark, Barbara, and Gary.  Jessie has ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Jessie enjoys visiting with people and doing yard work.  Even at 86 years old you will find her working in the yard.  She is an excellent cook making the best sugar cookies, candy popcorn and other delicious treats.  She likes Milky ways, Diet Pepsi, pretty flowers, and anything chocolate. She looks forward to playing cards every Friday with Bonnie, Vona and Sandra.

Jessie is highly active in the community and church, always willing to help and serve others.  One of her most treasured talents is vising with people.  She has lived in Levan for 67 years and is very honored to be chosen as Grand Marshal of the Levan 24th of July 2022 Celebration.

Please join us for our annual Levan Buckaroo Rodeo, Ranch Rodeo and Team Roping.  Please stay tuned for the dates and times of all events.

To enter any event, fill out an entry form found below.  Entries are limited for the Ranch Rodeo and Team Roping.  To submit entry forms you can mail forms to Levan Town Hall P.O. Box 40, Levan Utah 84639, drop off your entries in the Town Hall drop off box on the north side of the building, or email them to [email protected].  Payment options:  Mail check or money order with registration form or call the Town Hall (435) 623-1959 to take credit cards/debit cards over the phone.  For registration call Jessica Shepherd 435-262-0254.  For questions about the rodeo please contact Tate Shepherd 435-610-0203 or Brenda at 801-610-0253.  You can also follow us on facebook at Levan Rodeo for all updates.
